PA Speaker accuses firm of bias

QUETTA, June 21: The Speaker of the Balochistan Assembly has accused a Hub-based private power company of depriving local people of jobs and their rights.

In a statement, Mohammad Aslam Bhootani said that the Hubco Power Company had cancelled several contracts and removed a large number of people from service without any reason.

Expressing concern over the company’s attitude towards the local people, the speaker said the steps taken by the company were causing unrest in the area that could affect peace in the industrial town.

He said that as an elected representative of Lasbela, it was his responsibility to protect investors and their investment in the businesses of the area but at the same time he was also responsible for protecting the rights of the people of his constituency.

Mr Bhootani said that the company should change its “discriminatory attitude” and restore all cancelled contracts.
