Another bank heist in Gujranwala

GUJRANWALA, June 19: Robbers have looted Rs2 million from a bank situated on DC Road.

However, a robber was injured by the firing of a bank guard.

Four robbers stormed into the Allied Bank Limited on Wednesday, held the staff hostage and collected Rs2 million from the bank.

In the meantime, guard Shafqat fired a shot at the robbers and injured one of them. However, the robbers took away the money and their injured accomplice.

Regional Police Officer Zulfiqar Ahmad Cheema reached the scene soon after the incident. He told reporters that closed-circuit cameras had not been installed at the bank.

He said all banks had been directed to hire trained guards. He said a guard was involved in the robbery at the Allied Bank Limited, Hafizabad Road branch, adding that the accused in this case had been arrested. — Correspondent
