MIRPUR, June 18: Projects worth over Rs5 billion have been launched in Mirpur district to improve the living standard of the people by providing them latest means of communication and civic amenities.

Sources told this agency here on Wednesday that development targets relating to various projects launched by Mangla Dam resettlement organisation, local government, public health engineering, highway, building division and electricity departments as well as civic institutions in the division will be achieved by the end of the stipulated period.

The sources revealed that an effective and comprehensive system was being introduced to monitor the pace of development work in Azad Kashmir.

The AJK government has recently directed officials of the building departments to focus on ensuring quality development works.

The state administration has informed the departments that funds should be spent on public-oriented projects coupled with quality development work.—APP
