Teachers protest Against transfers
By Our Correspondent
KHANEWAL, June 18: Dozens of female teachers along with their children protested on the premises of the court of the additional district and sessions judge against the executive district officer (education) for transferring more than 200 teachers.
Teachers, including Najma Kausar, Mohsina Gul, Naseem Akhtar, Farida Bibi, Razia Kausar, Majida Bibi, Farzana Kausar, Sajida Sehar, Sajida Naz, Firdaus Rahman, Abida Samad, Zahida Parveen, Rubina Rizwan and Rukhsana Sardar, filed a petition in the court of returning officer for PP-219 Chaudhry Shabbir Husain against the EDO for transferring them and their colleagues before the by-election scheduled to be held on June 26.
They said the EDO had violated the Election Commission’s instructions issued to the district government for not transferring government employees till the holding of bypolls.
Following the situation, the RO/AD&SJ summoned the EDO (education) and ordered him to cancel transfer orders within one hour on which he requested the court to give him 24 hours. The court ordered the EDO to appear on Thursday along with the cancellation of transfer orders.
Sources said the EDO, after attending the court, went to his office and cancelled the transfer orders.
