Pilot error blamed for copter crash

KATHMANDU: Pilot error was to blame for the crash of a United Nations helicopter in Nepal in March which killed 10 people, an investigating official said on Wednesday. An official from Nepal’s tourism ministry who was on the five-person investigation panel, Nagen Prasad Ghimire, said the helicopter crew “lacked experience and familiarity with local terrain and weather.” UN arms monitors from Gambia, Indonesia, S. Korea and Sweden died when the copter crashed.—AFP
