Religious scholar passes away

HYDERABAD, June 17: A noted religious scholar, leader of JUP and former MNA Al-Haj Syed Mohammad Ali Hasni Rizvi died after protracted illness at a local hospital here late Monday night. He was 94.

He leaves behind a widow, two sons and three daughters to mourn his death. He was taken to hospital because of low blood pressure.

Late Rizvi was born in 1914 in Alvar, India, where his forefathers had migrated from Iran. He was known for his religious inclinations and knowledge and was associated with Allama Ahmed Raza Khan Barelvi (RA).

He shifted to Lahore in 1932 and then completed Dars-e-Nizamani in 1937 before going back to Alwar once again and migrated to Hyderabad, Sindh after five years.

He was elected MNA in 1970 elections on a JUP ticket with a heavy margin. He left JUP after party differences. He was a close associate of late Allama Shah Ahmed Noorani and was inspired by the teachings of Hazrat Data Gang Bux and Khawaja Ghareeb Nawaz and always urged people to follow them.

His funeral prayers were offered at Majsjid-e-Noor Pinjra Pole, and attended by hundreds of people, friends and relatives. He was laid to rest on Tuesday night in the premises of Dargah of Sakhi Abdul Wahab Shah Jillani as per his will.
