Girl recovered, three held

LAHORE, June 17: The Crimes Investigation Agency of Cantonment division on Tuesday recovered a minor girl kidnapped from Nishtar Colony six days ago for Rs3 million, arresting her three abductors.

According to a handout, five-year-old Iman, daughter of Muhammad Iqbal, was playing outside her house on June 11 when she was kidnapped.

The kidnappers contacted her father on his cell phone the same day and demanded a Rs3 million for her release.

The captors again contacted Iqbal the same night and reduced their demanded to Rs1.5 million, threatening him that they would take the girl to Peshawar if ransom money was not paid.

The Nishtar Colony police registered a case under Section 365/A on June 12 on Iqbal’s complaint.

Capital City Police Officer Pervez Rathore and DIG (investigation) Mushtaq Ahmad Sukhera constituted a team under the supervision of CIA SP Muhammad Umar Virk which traced the culprits with the help of Iqbal’s cell phone record and raided a house in Mehar Colony, Ward 9, Kahna Nau, arresting the accused and recovering the victim.

The police also recovered three pistols and bullets from the accused, who were identified as Asif, Anjum and Amjad.

Meanwhile, the Cantonment Division CIA Police have arrested three suspects and recovered two men kidnapped for a Rs1.2 million ransom from Warbertan, Sheikhupura, from their custody.

Dilawar Husain and Saqib Ali were kidnapped from Canal Colony, Sheikhupura, when they were on their way from Sheikhupura to Warbertan. They were brought to Lahore and detained in a rented house in Chungi Amar Sadhu and their abductors demanded Rs1.2 million for their release. Later, they reduced their demand to Rs600,000.

The families of the kidnapped men informed DIG Investigation Mushtaq Ahmad Sukhaira about the whereabouts of the suspects on which a special team headed by a CIA deputy superintendent of police arrested two kidnappers from a park in Model Town while their another accomplice was arrested from the rented house wherefrom the kidnapped men were also recovered.

Those arrested were identified as Shaukat Ali, Shahid and Syed Waheedur Rahman. CCPO Pervez Rathore has announced cash prizes and commendatory certificates for the raiding team.

EXPLOISION: Six employees of a Pakistan Telecommunications Company Limited exchange on Multan Road sustained burn injuries when a cylinder exploded in a section of the exchange.

Ejaz, Kashif, Abbas and three others were taken to Jinnah and Mayo hospitals.
