BAHAWALPUR, June 15: In pursuance of the Cantonment Board directive, the police have raided and sealed about 10 private guest houses in posh locality of Model Town.

Police officials alleged that immoral activities were going on in these so-called guest houses.

They also claimed to have arrested some couples during the raid and registered separate cases against them.

Some of the owners told reporters that they were issued notices to close down their guest houses by June 16 and that they were busy vacating the premises when police illegally raided and sealed their guest houses.

They said about 500 employees working in these guest houses had been rendered jobless. Owners said that they were ready to pay commercial charges to the Cantonment Board.

They feared that valuable articles and furniture worth hundreds and thousands of rupees might be damaged.

A Cantonment Board official, requesting anonymity, said that these guest houses were the dens of immoral activities.
