ISLAMABAD, June 14: About 30 lawyers of the district bar associations of Vehari and Sanghar continued a sit-in on Saturday on the Constitution Avenue after the long march concluded.

The lawyers, who participated in the long march, set up a camp along the road and put placards and banners there.

Vice president of the Vehari bar Malik Muhammad Akhtar said: “We will sit here till the judges are reinstated.”

President of the Sanghar bar Anwar Mehmood said the prosperity and progress of the nation “is not possible in the absence of free judiciary and supremacy of law”.

He said judiciary should be restored to the November 2 position. “The lawyers who gathered here from across the country should have stayed near the Parliament till the achievement of the goal,” he added.

Mr Anwar regretted that the protest had ended without realising the aim of restoration of the deposed judges.—APP
