Heatwave kills three

JACOBABAD, June 14: Three people died due to sunstroke and severe heat in Jacobabad and Thul areas as the temperature hit 44.5 degrees centigrade on Saturday. A number of people also fell unconscious during the severe heatwave.

Saeed Ahmed, 7, son of Dhadoo; Riaz Ahmed, 25; and Gul Mohammad of Thul died due to the severe heat and sunstroke.

In the month of June last year, the maximum temperature recorded here was 52 degrees centigrade.

The severe hot weather has affected the routine life of people here. Markets and roads wore a deserted look.

Around 100 gastroenteritis cases, majority of them children, have been reported in different hospitals.

Electricity loadshedding also continued for hours during the day.
