Five killed in Kashmir

SRINAGAR, June 13: Five construction workers were killed when they were ambushed by unidentified attackers in occupied Kashmir on Friday, officials said.

The ambush took place near a road construction site in the Kishtwar area, 265km northeast of Jammu, said senior superintendent of police Shakeel Ahmed Beig.

“According to preliminary reports, five men of the Border Roads Organisation were killed,” he said, adding they didn’t know who carried out the attack.

Elsewhere, nearly a dozen people were injured on Friday when suspected militants threw a grenade at an army vehicle driving on a busy road in Baramulla.—AFP
