KARACHI, June 13: Squash legend and president of the World Squash Federation (WSF) Jahangir Khan is among the three personalities who were bestowed with ‘Spirit of Sport’ award by the General Association of International Sports Federation (GAISF) in Athens last week.

The other two recipients are FIDE president Florencio Campomanes and president, Acrobatic Gymnastics Technical Committee, Patricia Wade.

President of the GAISF, Hein Verbruggen, decorated the three personalities with the prestigious award at an impressive ceremony.

Instituted in 2003, the award is given to those who through their unique commitment and humanitarian spirit have made exceptional and lasting contribution to the pursuit of sports excellence, sportsmanship, sport participation or other legacy using sports as a major contributor to the betterment of society.

The GAISF consists of some 105 Olympic and non-Olympic International Sports Federations.
