KARACHI, June 13: Third seed Zubaid Gul whipped top seed Uzair Ahmed in straight sets in the final to land the boys under-15 crown in the Hyderabad Open tennis championship at Hyderabad Gymkhana on Friday.

According to results made available here, Zubaid conceded just one point in registering 6-0, 6-1 victory over his opponent.

Top seed Hamza Khan crowned the boys under-13 title by getting the better of Khizer Tariq, the second seed, 6-2, 6-3.

The boys’ under-11 title went to unseeded Mir Ali who accounted for unseeded Talal Ahmed 6-3, 6-4 in the well-contested match.

Meanwhile, unseeded Saad Baloch continued his winning run when he handed stunning 6-3, 6-3 defeat to third seed Mohammad Naseem to reach the men’s singles final.

He is drawn to meet Abdul Majeed in Sunday’s final after the latter routed Saeed Ahmed 6-3, 6-4 in the other pre-final.

Saad pulled off a major upset when he prevailed over top seed Robin Das 6-3, 6-1 on Thursday.

Boys’ under-11 final:

Mir Ali bt Talal Ahmed 6-3, 6-4.

Boys’ under-13 final:

Hamza Khan bt Khizer Tariq 6-2, 6-3.

Boys’ under-15 final:

Zubaid Gul bt Uzair Ahmed 6-0, 6-1.

Juniors’ under-17 semi-finals:

Hussain Aziz bt Zubaid Gul 6-0, 6-3; Anas Khan walkover Uzair Ahmed.

Men’s singles semi-finals:

Saad Baloch bt Mohammad Naseem 6-3, 6-3; Abdul Majeed bt Saeed Ahmed 6-3, 6-4.

Men’s doubles semi-finals:

Umer Qazi/Saad Baloch bt Anas Khan/Hussain Aziz 6-2, 6-0; Abdul Majeed/Abid bt Zulfiqar Yousufzai/Arif Shaikh 6-7 (0-7), 6-4, 7-6 (7-3).

Saturday’s fixtures:

Juniors under-17 final 4.00pm; men’s doubles final 5.00pm.
