WASHINGTON, June 11: US President George Bush is not due to attend a meeting of oil producer and consumer countries in June in Saudi Arabia, the White House said on Wednesday.

“We are not aware that this would be a heads of state meeting, and that the president is scheduled to be in the United States on that day,” said Tony Fratto, a White House spokesman. The White House has said the United States would take part in the meeting, but Fratto did not say who would represent Washington.

Earlier, Opec chief Abdullah al-Badri said the meeting due on June 22 in Saudi Arabia to discuss record-high crude prices would include heads of state.
