Court seeks report on target killings

By Amanullah Kasi

QUETTA, June 11: A division bench of the Balochistan High Court has ordered police to report if they have made any progress in tracing criminals involved in target killings in the city.

The bench, comprising Chief Justice Amanullah Khan Yasinzai and Justice Akhtar Zaman Malghani, also ordered police on Wednesday to furnish details about money they got from the government and the status of equipment and vehicles.

At the prevous hearing, the court had summoned the provincial home secretary, Quetta’s DIG (operations) and the Capital City Police Officer after the lawyer for petitioner Maulana Noor Muhammad said that “innocent people were being targeted in the city”.

DIG (operations) Rehmatullah Naizi had informed the court that the interrogation of suspects detained in cases of target killings would be helpful in tracing the real criminals.
