Good turnout at KTTA camp
By Our Sports Correspondent
KARACHI, June 11: The Karachi Table Tennis Association’s (KTTA) free two-month summer camp in three boys and girls categories received an encouraging response when some 60 up and coming players reported for training at the Islamia Club on Wednesday.
According to coach-cum camp commandant, Arif Khan, the number of boys is around 50-plus while eight girls also turned up to learn the basics of the game.
The former international said he has categorised the trainees in two sessions. The beginner boys and girls go through the drills from 10.00am to 12.00noon while those who are good among the lot and needs to be polished have their workouts in the evening.
Arif, a former SAF Games gold medalist, said he is laying more emphasis on correcting style of players, ball accuracy and of course, the physical fitness.
Arif is being assisted in the camp by a former national player, Hasan Imam, promising junior international, Muzammil, Dr. Iqbal and Khurshid Alam.
The camp concludes in the first week of August.
