PESHAWAR: Missile strike termed naked aggression

Bureau Report

PESHAWAR, June 11: NWFP Governor Owais Ahmed Ghani and Chief Minister Ameer Haider Khan Hoti while strongly condemning the unprovoked attack by the coalition forces on the border security posts within Pakistani territory in Mohmand Agency, described it as “naked aggression”.

In a joint statement issued here on Wednesday, the governor and the chief minister expressed deep grief and sorrow over the martyrdom of 13 people including a major, 10 FC jawans and two civilians, extending heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved families.

They also expressed their concern that many others were missing and injured in the said attack, said a handout.

Annoyed over the unprovoked attack by the coalition forces, the governor and the chief minister said that the coalition forces not only crossed into the Pakistani territory to attack the boarder posts, but also violated the Pakistani air space, adding that such aggression would never be tolerated. “Such unprovoked acts must be avoided, which may cause tension in mutual relations,” they cautioned.

“Such provocative attacks may also damage (efforts on) the war on terror, for which the coalition forces and the Afghan government will be solely responsible,” they concluded.
