KARACHI: 20 troopers posted at Mazar-i-Quaid

KARACHI, June 11: The Sindh government has taken the Rangers on board in line with the security plan for the Mazar-i-Quaid, as more than 20 men of the paramilitary force have been deputed to assist the existing security staff.

A senior official said the services of the Rangers had been acquired on a temporary basis and they would be sent back once the new security plan was put in place.

“We expect the plan to be in place within a month,” said the official. “In such plans, there is a proposal to acquire the services of a dedicated force, which is assisted by the city police.”

He said the Rangers personnel had been deputed only to assist the existing security men with restricted mandate of duties in and around the mausoleum.—IA
