Alleged criminal killed in ‘encounter’

By Our Correspondent

SARGODHA, June 10: An alleged criminal was killed and another injured in a police ‘encounter’ in Boonga Minhas, about 25 kilometres from here, on Tuesday.

According to sources, police had information that Ajmal, who absconded from the police custody some time ago, was sitting at the outhouse of Ehsan.

A police team raided the place. Ehsan and his accomplice Shabbir “opened fire at the police”. When the police ‘returned’ the fire, Ehsan was killed and Shabbir injured. However, their three accomplices fled.

Police claimed Ehsan was wanted in several criminal cases.

Separately, DPO Waseem Ahmed Sial told a news briefing that the absconders would be arrested soon. He said Ehsan was a ‘desperate criminal’.
