LAHORE, June 9: A no-confidence motion was passed here on Monday against Wasal Durrani, a member of the PCB’s Governing Board hailing from Peshawar region.

Out of a total 15 members of the NWFP general body, 10 were present in the proceedings held at the PCB offices. The motion against Wasal, who is the president of the Peshawar Region, was passed before a two-member PCB committee comprising Director Domestic Cricket Sultan Rana and legal consultant Shan Gul.

Later, Shan told reporters that though a no-confidence motion had been moved against Wasal which also met the required number of voters, the final decision would be taken by the Governing Board’s domestic cricket committee in a meeting which will be held in Lahore on June 17.

The members from Charssadah, Peshawar, Dir and Swat moved the no-confidence motion and also named Mohammad Hayat as the next president of the region.

Incidentally, Wasal is also member of the domestic cricket committee which includes Intikhab Alam, Abdul Raquib, Shakil Sheikh as other members. The committee is headed by Aslam Sanjarani but according to a report, he tendered his resignation after developing differences with some members on key issues recently.

When asked who would preside over the meeting in his absence, Sultan Rana said hopefully Sanjrani would be still be in chair since there was no confirmation on his resignation being accepted by the PCB.

Later, Mohammad Hayat said that Wasal, since getting elected as president Peshawar region, had been taking all the decisions unilaterally and had lost the confidence of the majority of members.
