KARACHI, June 9: Chief of the Pakistan Muslim League-Functional Pir Pagara has said he sees no possibility of the reinstatement of deposed judges.

Talking to a group of journalists here on Monday, he said he was sure that the lawyers’ ongoing movement would eventually fizzle out.

He also described the just launched “long march” as an exercise in futility that had already consumed a huge amount of money.

Pir Pagara, who is also spiritual leader of the Hur Jamaat, warned the nation that another martial law was looming large on the horizon. This time, it would not be an “Al-hamdolilah or Masha’allah” martial law, but a bloody one that the nation had witnessed in 1953,” he said.

The PML-F chief’s comments came after his meeting with founder of the newly-formed Awami Muslim League (AML) Shaikh Rashid Ahmed at the Kingri House.

When his comments were sought on democracy and the situation obtaining in the country, Pir Pagara said: “The democracy here is passing through a grace period and every passing day is a bonus for it… how long it will survive depends on president’s (Gen Pervez Musharraf’s) tolerance.”

Pir Pagara ruled out possibility of President Musharraf’s impeachment, and remarked: “Those demanding his impeachment were themselves accountable for their misdeeds… Before Musharraf is driven away, they themselves may have to leave.”

He said he did not see a bright future for Nawaz or Shahbaz Sharif. “But Zardari’s future is definitely bright, at least until his men are occupying the big (PM’s) house,” he added.

Pir Pagara said he had assured Shaikh Rashid of all cooperation and wished all success for his party.
