BBC journalist shot dead

KABUL, June 8: An Afghan journalist working for the BBC was found shot dead on Sunday, a day after gunmen abducted him in the volatile southern province of Helmand, the broadcaster said.

“A journalist working for the BBC has been shot dead in Afghanistan,” the London-based group said in a statement.

“Abdul Samad Rohani went missing in Lashkar Gar, Helmand on Saturday.

His body was found on Sunday afternoon.

He had been shot in the head.” It said Rohani was the Helmand reporter of the BBC World Service’s Pashtu section.—AFP
