Uzair claims billiards event

KARACHI, June 7: Uzair Dawood dethroned holder Qasim Kamani to become the new champion of KC billiards handicap tournament, which concluded at the Karachi Club premises on Saturday.

He romp home straight 100-98, 100-75 in the keenly contested final.

Earlier, the two made it to the final after conjuring contrasting victories in pre-finals on Friday.

Uzair overcame Naveen Perwani 100-59, 100-69 while Qasim conceded a frame in his 2-1 triumph over brother Asad. The scores being 100-89, 85-100, 100-90.

Uzair received winning purse of Rs10,000 while Qasim took home Rs6,000. As many as 32 players participated in the annual event which carried the total prize money of Rs30,000.

Results:

Semi-finals: Uzair Dawood bt Naveen Perwani 2-0 (100-59, 100-69); Qasim Kamani bt Asad Kamani 2-1 (100-89, 85-100, 100-90).

Final: Uzair Dawood bt Qasim Kamani 2-0 (100-98, 100-75).
