LAHORE, June 7: The PML-Q will boycott the election of the Punjab chief minister on the ground that its existence and role as the opposition party in the province is not being recognised.
The announcement was made by PML-Q’s Punjab President Pervaiz Elahi at a news conference here at his residence on Saturday.
Political analysts nevertheless termed the boycott a face-saving measure taken to cover up the PML-Q’s inability to win the election. He said the opposition members would sit outside the assembly building in a tent till the allotment of a proper office to them.
