Police claim busting robbers’ gang

LARKANA, June 7: Larkana police had busted a gang of motorcycle robbers, extortionists and the killers of Dr Dharmo Mal, ASP Muhammed Nasir Muneef Qureshi claimed on Saturday.

He said that Jabbar alias Jaboo Abro was the ringleader of the motorcycle lifters gang, who would use a master key. Their (criminals) target was the motorcycles of medical representatives whose installments had almost been paid, he said.

These bikes were being smuggled to Balochistan, lower Sindh and NWFP, he said.

The official said that Balach Jatoi, a notorious extortionist in the city who had created terror in traders’ community had also also picked. He also claimed solving the case of murder of Dr Dharmo Mal who was killed near MCB Lahori Mohalla while depositing money.

Sarmad Tunio who led the robbers’ gang was arrested while two others identified as Safdar Khokhar and Hubdar Lashari had gone underground, he said.

The ASP disclosed that the Writing Head Constables ( Mohrrars) of police stations in the district had been tasked, in light of instructions of provincial police officer to update current lists of criminals within three months.

He claimed that during last eight years record of criminals at the police stations had not been maintained and due to political reasons police in Larkana had become what he called the ‘Kamdar’ of a wadera.
