‘JUI-F has reservations on some clauses’

By Our Correspondent

SUKKUR, June 7: Secretary General of Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam (F) Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri has said that they have received a copy of the proposed constitutional package and their committee is going through it.

He said that they had some objections and reservations over some clauses of the proposed constitutional package.

Mr Haideri was talking to newsmen at Sukkur airport on Saturday.

He said that some objectionable clauses had been found in the package, which he said, should be removed but declined to disclose those clauses.

In reply to a question, he said that his party was a coalition partner of the government and, therefore, they cannot support or take part in the long march of lawyers.

He said that the restoration of judges was purely a constitutional issue and his party too wanted restoration of deposed judges, but they cannot remain in government and opposition at the same time.

However, he was of the view that, restoration of judges should be done in such a way that it should not spark another constitutional crisis.

Mr Haideri said that the nation was facing multiple crises like price hike, unemployment, lawlessness, water, power and shortage of other daily use items, but both the main political parties in the government had done nothing in this regard.

He also advocated scrapping the 58(2b). Talking about the Kalabagh Dam he said that it was purely a technical matter which had been politicised.
