BAHAWALPUR, June 5: Two robbers snatched at gunpoint the car of an assistant advocate general of the Lahore High Court’s Bahawalpur bench from his driver on the busy Baghdad Road here on Thursday.

According to police, AAG Tariq Shafi’s driver Jaffar was sitting in the parked car (BRO-95) near the Teachers Training Institute when the robbers held him at gunpoint. The outlaw, who immediately occupied the car, told the driver to move the car according to their directions. After reaching the site of government employees’ cooperative housing society opposite Baghdadul Jadid Campus of the Islamia University, they tied up the driver with his shirt and pushed him out of the car, driving away to some unknown destination.

On being informed of the incident, DPO Azhar Hameed ordered a general blockade in the district.

Baghdadul Jadid police said the car could not be traced so far.
