KARACHI: 2,350 caught cheating in HSC exams

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, June 5: The number of cases pertaining to the use of unfair means detected so far during the ongoing Higher Secondary Certificate (part I and II) science, general science and commerce groups’ annual examinations 2008, has reached 2,350.

Of the total 2,350 cases so far registered by the vigilance teams of the Board of Intermediate Education, Karachi against the candidates using unfair means in the exams, only 50 are girls and the rest 2,300 are boys.

Meanwhile, the BIEK chairman Prof Anwar Ahmed Zai said that all those cases pertained to copying in the examinations and not a single candidate was booked on charges of impersonation mainly because the BIEK had provided identity cards of all the candidates to the examination centres through which invigilators could have easily checked any case of impersonation. The identity cards contained the roll numbers and stamped photos of the candidates, he added.

Timings changed

A spokesman for the BIEK has announced that all those papers of HSC (Part-I and Part-II) annual examinations-2008 which are scheduled to be held on Fridays will now be held between 4pm and 6pm, instead of 3pm and 5pm.
