Growers protest

NAWABSHAH, June 4: Doz-ens of growers of Jheemal Minor staged a procession and observed a token hunger strike outside the press club on Wednesday in protest against unavailability of water in the minor.

The procession, carrying banners and placards and chanting slogans, began its march from Gajrah Wah on Sanghar road and after passing the main roads terminated at the local press club, where the participants observed token hunger strike.

They told newsmen that about 4,000 acre land irrigated by 22 watercourses of Jheemal Minor had not received water for months, badly affecting sowing of cotton and causing losses to growers.
