THATTA, June 4: A clash among national institutions due to mishandling of issues will prove disastrous for the country, warned Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad.

He said it was premature to say something about the impeachment of President Pervez Musharraf in an answer to journalists’ question. The decision will be taken by party’s chief Altaf Hussain at an appropriate time, he said.Governor was talking to journalists after inaugurating a regional office of the provincial ombudsman in Makli on Tuesday. He said there were enormous constitutional obstructions on the issue of accountability of the president and reconciliation was the best option. Elected representatives should serve country and its people he said adding the prevailing political situation does not allow leg pulling and any distraction from the political path would pave way for instability. The governor said political wisdom required serious, sober and optimistic approach to all issues.

Answering a question, he said President Musharraf was doing well for the nation as during his tenure, economy of the country flourished and people witnessed record development work in the country.

Earlier, addressing a seminar on the “Role of ombudsman in checking maladministration” Dr Ibad said: Good governance was the identity of a genuine government and for this purpose the government had established regional offices of provincial ombudsman in 11 districts of the province to help easy access to justice at their doorsteps.

He said the government was well aware of the problems of common man and making all-out efforts to facilitate, particularly, the poor to get their problems resolved at doorstep. He advised the citizens to fully avail the facility.

Earlier, he laid wreath at the shrine of Sufi saint Abdullah Shah Ashabi.

Provincial Minister Abdul Jalil Memon, Provincial Ombudsman Asad Ashraf Malik and his Secretary Ashfaq Memon also spoke on the occasion.

AID: Sindh Minister for Culture and Tourism Sassui Palijo visited journalist and writer Dr Aslam Khwaja at his residence in Sujawal on Tuesday.

The minister announced Rs100,000 grant in aid for the disabled journalist.

Dr Khwaja has been paralysed following damage to his spinal cord in an accident, couple of years ago.
