RAWALPINDI, June 4: A local court on Wednesday directed the SHO of Aabpara to submit his report in a petition filed by Khalid Khawaja, coordinator of Defence of Human Rights, seeking registration of an FIR in Lal Masjid operation.

In his petition he sought registration of FIR against President Pervez Musharraf, former interior minister, Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao, General Tariq Majeed, Chief Commissioner Khalid Pervez, Deputy Commissioner Muhamm-ad Ali, Inspector General of Islamabad Police Chaudhry Iftikhar and others for their alleged involvement in the killings of people during Lal Masjid operation.

The petitioner alleged that they were involved in serious and heinous offences of murder, attempted murder, act of terrorism, kidnapping, abduction, criminal conspiracy, use of explosive substances, malicious acts intended to outrage religious feelings, defiling of Holy Qura’an. He sought registration of case under Explosive Substances Act 1908, sections 302, 342, 337, 295-A, 295-B, 109, 120-A, 121-A, 131, 445, 446, 452, 509 and other enabling sections of Pakistan Penal Code 1860, and under section 7 Anti Terrorism Act besides other provisions of law.

The petitioner through his lawyer Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui maintained that he filed a complaint with Abpara Police on April 19 for the registration of a criminal case but police had not been entertaining the complaint against the influential accused persons and failed to perform its statutory duties to the registration of case as envisaged under section 154 of CrPC.

Additional District and Sessions Judge Chaudhry Anwar Ahmed directed the SHO to submit his written comments by June 17 next hearing date.

The petitioner had maintained that the Supreme Court of Pakistan vide its order of October 2, 2007 had ordered registration of case in Lal Masjid operation.
