A signal-free route

Published June 3, 2008

FAISALABAD, June 2: The City District Government of Faisalabad (CDGF) and the University of Agriculture Faisalabad have decided to make Jail Road a signal-free route, and the UAF will provide land for this purpose.

The decision was taken during a meeting between District Nazim Rana Zahid Touseef and UAF Vice-Chancellor Dr Iqrar Ahmad here on Monday.

Mr Touseef asked the university administration to remove the main gate of the academia constructed on Jail Road and install it a few yards back from the road that would enable the government to control traffic flow.

He said the CDGF would raise a slip road inside the university premises.

He said all traffic would be signal free from Jinnah Colony to Allied Hospital.

Dr Iqrar assured the district nazim that the university would extend all-out support to the CDGF for smooth flow of traffic, and for this purpose the academia would provide land.

He said Youngwala Road would be opened for public traffic soon and a slip road would be constructed from Rajawala towards the fish farm.

Meanwhile, the district nazim also visited the Government College University and met VC Dr Arif Ali Zaidi.

Mr Zaidi apprised the nazim of the progress being made by the university to promote educational activities.
