Flour price rises in Mirpurkhas

By Our Correspondent

MIRPURKHAS, June 2. Flour price has risen in the district after an increase in wheat prices in the open market which is being sold at the rate of Rs800 to Rs820 per 40kg.

People are purchasing flour at the rate of Rs26 per kilogramme at Chakkis and shops. About one week ago, the DCO fixed flour price at Rs21 to 22 per kilogramme. However within one week, the Chakki Owners Association announced an increase in the rate to Rs26 per kg.

People approached by Dawn said that the district administration had failed to ensure that essential commodities including flour were sold at fixed rates. They said that wholesalers were increasing prices of commodities without any fear of the administration. They called on the Sindh chief minister to take notice of the situation and control flour price.
