KARACHI: Water shortage

Published June 3, 2008

KARACHI, June 2: The city on Monday suffered a shortfall of over 40mgd (million gallons per day) water as almost all the bulk pumping stations of the KWSB remained without electricity for 45 minutes to two hours.

According to KWSB sources, the Hub pumping station remained without power from 2am to 3am and the other major pumping stations, including those at Dhabeji, Gharo, Pipri, COD Filter Plant and in north-east Karachi could not function from 7am to 8:30am due to power outage.

The sources said that the city’s overall supply would be affected badly on Tuesday due to the non-functioning of the pumping station.—Staff Reporter
