KARACHI: Unnar’s sons, nephew remanded


KARACHI, June 2: Civil judge and judicial magistrate-VIII, South, Mohammad Umar Awan on Monday remanded two sons of former Sindh minister Altaf Unnar, along with his nephew and driver, into police custody till June 7.

Unnar’s sons, Adil and Adeel, his nephew, Sikander Zulqarnain, and their driver, Nawab, were booked on May 31 by Darakhshan police for harassing servants of their neighbour, Fawwad, and snatching from them Rs2,500.

The FIR (No.44/08) of the case, lodged by Fawwad, was registered under Sections 324 and 392/34 of Pakistan Penal Code.

Activists’ case

Civil judge and judicial magistrate, Central, Khadim Hussein Chand on Monday remanded two persons, stated to be activists of the Pakistan People’s Party, into jail custody till June 11.

Saheleen Zaman and Shafqat Ali Jaffri are accused of attacking Taimuria police station. The prosecution alleged that they had beaten up policemen and forcibly taken away a suspect lodged in the lockup at the police station.

An FIR (No.17/08) was registered against them. Around 40 persons, including Sohail Ansari, a PPP activist who had contested the Feb 18 election, have been declared absconders in the case.

Meanwhile, civil judge and judicial magistrate-V, East, Raj Kumar Vashwani remanded Saheleen Zaman and Shafaqt Ali Jaffri into jail custody till June 11 in another case pertaining to rioting and causing damage to property.—Staff Reporter
