KARACHI, June 2: A fresh statement of Asif Ali Zardari was recorded on Monday following the recommendation of a specially constituted board in a case pertaining to an attempt on Mr Zardari’s life during his detention.

DIG Investigation Ghulam Qadir Thebo along with SP Hasan Daal and DSP Wasif Qureshi, who is the inquiry officer in the case, went to the Bilawal House and recorded the statement of Mr Zardari.

Earlier, a special board was constituted by CCPO Sultan Salahuddin Babar Khattak. The board is headed by DIG Investigation Ghulam Qadir Thebo.

SSP Investigation South Niaz Ahmed Khoso and SSP Investigation West K.K. Memon are its members. The board members had recommended a fresh investigation in the case.

An attempt was reportedly made to slit the tongue of Asif Ali Zardari during his detention, as a result of which he was injured in February 2005. An FIR was registered at the Artillery Maidan police station. During the investigation, the case was made ‘C’ class.
