Two robbers held after ‘encounter’

SHEIKHUPURA, June 1: Two robbers were arrested after police injured one of them in an encounter near Kot Pindi Das adjacent to Lahore Road here on Sunday morning.

Factory Area police received information that two robbers were looting passersby near Kot Qabza. A police party, led by SHO Chaudhry Iqbal, reached the spot. Seeing police, the outlaws opened fire on them which was returned. As a result, one of the robbers, identified as Riasat, sustained a bullet wound. His accomplice tried to escape but the police arrested him, who was identified as Tariq. Police also recovered illegal weapons from their custody.

The SHO said the arrested robbers were wanted in dozens of cases of heinous crime by Factory Area and Sharaqpur police.
