KARACHI: APDM holds rally against price hike, govt policies

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, June 1: The All-Parties Democratic Movement on Sunday staged a rally against soaring prices, unemployment, power load-shedding and in support of the restoration of the judiciary.

Holding party flags, banners and placards, the protesters raised slogans against price hike and load-shedding and marched from the Empress Market to the Regal Chowk.

Addressing the demonstrators, Muhammad Hussain Mehanti of the Jamaat-i-Islami said that prices were on the rise despite tall claims by the PPP government. If the prices of daily commodities were not brought down and people were not provided relief in the budget, they would be compelled to take to streets.

Hakim Mandokhel of the Pukhtoon Khwa Milli Awami Party said that people would take to streets if the policies followed by the Musharraf regime continued.

Azra Perween of the Labour Party said the rulers should resign if they were unable to steer out the nation from the ongoing crises.

Muhammad Hasan Chandio of the Sindh Tarraqi Pasand Party held Musharraf responsible for the country’s devastation and said that his days were numbered.
