SUKKUR, May 31: Chief Justice of Pakistan Abdul Hameed Dogar has said that district bar associations are nurseries of lawyers and they should properly be looked after by all concerned.
He said that young lawyers had a positive role to play and they had a great potential of making contribution in the cause of justice and added that their youth, energy, zeal and enthusiasm needed proper guidance and support.
He was speaking at a ceremony to inaugurate a newly constructed district courts complex in Khairpur on Saturday.
The chief justice said that the rule of law was the lifeline of the constitution and democracy and it was not possible to visualise rule of law in the society without strong and independent judiciary.
Justice Dogar said that judiciary was primarily responsible for resolving controversies and disputes brought before it within the framework of the constitution and law in a timely and fair manner, and therefore it had to ensure effective functioning of the administration of justice in the country.
Terming the members of the bench and the bar, proverbially, two wheels of the chariot of justice, he said that they professed and followed the common objective of the administration of justice.
A strong and committed bar was indispensable for a strong judiciary, he added.
Chief Justice of Sindh High Court Justice Azizullah A Memon, Justice Muneeb Ahmed Khan, Sindh Bar Council member Shafi Mohammad Chandio and Khairpur District Bar Association president Syed Bachal Shah also spoke on the occasion.
