Prisoners protest

By Our Correspondent

LARKANA, May 31: More than 40 under-trial prisoners climbed over rooftops of Larkana Central Prison on Saturday in protest against jail administration’s failure to produce them in courts on time.

They ended protest after getting assurance from officials they would be taken to courts regularly henceforth.

The disturbance began after Larkana police failed to send a van to carry 28 prisoners to the courts of additional sessions judge and civil judge Ratodero, said Assistant Jailer Mazhar Shahani.

He said that the line officer from the district headquarter police had expressed his inability in a letter to send a van and police force to take the prisoners for regular hearing to Ratodero citing VIP duty as reason.
