Jurisdiction of Pindi changed

RAWALPINDI, May 30: The Punjab government amended the nomenclature and jurisdiction of region III (Rawalpindi) on Friday, official sources said.
The region, comprising districts of Jhelum, Attock and Chakwal, has been relocated and now it will be called Rawalpindi Region consisting of City District of Rawalpindi, districts of Jhelum, Chakwal and Attock.
A senior police official said the Rawalpindi region would now be having an additional inspector general of police, two deputy inspectors general of police, one DIG operation and one DIG admin.
Rao Mohammad Iqbal DIG has been serving as City Police Officer (CPO), while Nasir Khan Durrani DIG is posted as Regional Police Officer in Rawalpindi.
According to sources, the name of Talat Mehmood Tariq, who is posted as RPO Faisalabad, is being considered for RPO Rawalpindi.
Similarly, Region 1 comprising Sheikhupura, Nankana Sahib, Kasur and Okara has been named Sheikhupura Region.
Region II consisting of districts Sialkot, Gujrat, Narowal, Mandi Bahauddin and Hafizabad has been amended as Gujranwala Region and will cover city district Gujranwala and districts of Sialkot, Gujrat, Narowal, Mandi Bahauddin and Hafizabad.
Region 4, the districts of Sargodha, Khushab and Mianwali, will be called Sargodha Region and will consist of the districts of Sargodha, Khushab, Mianwali and Bkhkhar.
Region 5, districts of Sahiwal, Khanewal, Vehari, Lodhran and Rajanpur will be called Multan Region.
Region 6 of D.G. Khan will comprise D.G. Khan, Muzaffargarh, Layyah and Rajanpur districts.
Region 7 will be called Bahawalpur Region and it will consist of Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar and Rahim Yar Khan, while Region 8 will be called Faisalabad Region and will comprise city district of Faisalabad, districts of Jhang, and Toba Tek Singh.
Meanwhile, a man was deprived of Rs550,000 in the Shalimar police area on Friday, police said.
Sheikh Moeen was on way to F-11, where he is constructing a mosque, after drawing the money from a commercial bank when two persons intercepted him and forced him to give up the cash on gunpoint.
In the Saddar Barooni area of Rawalpindi, a gang of four robbers looted Rs60,000 and gold ornaments from a house.
Mohammad Sadiq complained to the police that three persons forced their way into the house and snatched the cash and jewellery after holding the inmates at gunpoint.
