LARKANA: Detainee freed

Published May 30, 2008

LARKANA, May 29: Civil Judge Agha Niaz raided Qambar police station on Thursday and got released one Khadim Mughiri who had been kept there in illegal confinement for four days.

The district and sessions judge appointed Mr Niaz as raid commissioner and asked him to pay surprise visit to the police station to locate the detainee after Ms Sassui lodged a complaint with him accusing police of arresting his son Khadim four days ago and putting him behind bars without any charges.

She said that when she went to the police station the SHO demanded bribe for releasing her son.

When the court official raided the police station he found Khadim in the lock-up and the duty officer failed to produce any evidence against the detainee after which he released Khadim and asked the duty officer to appear in court on Friday along with SHO and record if he had any to validate the arrest.
