KARACHI: PML-N should quit treasury benches: JI

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, May 29: Secretary-General of the Jamaat-i-Islami Munawwar Hassan has advised Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz to set a date for quitting the treasury benches as the Pakistan People’s Party is acting against its wishes and plans.

Addressing a press conference at the JI office, Idara Noor-i-Haq, here on Thursday, he criticised PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari for his remarks that “any movement against the government may snuff out democracy”. The JI leader said that Mr Zardari should honour the people’s mandate instead of threatening the nation with the return of martial law.

He said martial law could be avoided only if the mandate of the masses was accepted and respected by all stakeholders of the country.

He reminded the PPP that the slogan of “Roti, Kapra aur Makan” was a basic commitment propagated through its manifesto.
