Musharraf author of all crises: PML-N

Bureau Report

HYDERABAD, May 28: Pakistan Muslim League-N Provincial President Ghous Ali Shah condemned President Musharraf ‘for hatching conspiracies against Nawaz Sharif’ who made Pakistan a nuclear power. He denounced the toppling of Nawaz government and instituting against him false case of plane hijacking.

Pervez Musharraf accepted the US dictation and jeopardised the existence of Pakistan after 9/11, he said adding that he was the author of all crises confronting the country. The US was trying to take control of our nuclear assets with the concurrence of President Musharraf he said and added that 160 million people would foil this conspiracy. He said the then US President Bill Clinton had telephoned not once but five times to prevent the then prime minister of Pakistan Nawaz Sharif from exploding nuclear device but the latter refused.

Nawaz Sharif in consultation with the concerned people went ahead with the nuclear explosion which not only made Pakistan invincible but the Muslim world proud, he said.

He was speaking by telephone to participants of a Youm-i-Takbeer function organised by the local chapter of PML-N at the press club on Wednesday.

Nawaz Sharif refused to accept any pressure on nuclear test as India and the West did not want Pakistan to become a nuclear power, he said adding that it was late Z.A. Bhutto who laid its foundation while Ziaul Haq also played a key role.

He said late Z.A. Bhutto endured threats of dire consequences by Henry Kissinger but refused to budge an inch from his endeavour.

The PML-N Secretary Information Sindh, Zahid Rafiq Butt said Mr Bhutto, Mr Sharif and Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan were national heroes as they made Pakistan impregnable and the entire Muslim world proud. He criticized for treating Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan as a prisoner to appease the US.

He said now a democratic government was in power which will make Musharraf accountable under Article-6 of the Constitution and hold trail for keeping Dr Khan in wrongful confinement.

Local PML-N leaders Shabbir Hassan Ansari and Khalid Aziz Aran also spoke on the occasion.

They cut a cake to celebrate the 10th anniversary of nuclear explosion. Fateha was held for slain PML-N leader Tahir Khan and prayers offered for the health of Dr Hyder Shah.

Hundreds of PML-N activists raised slogans against Musharraf and in support of Mr Sharif, Shahbaz Sharif and Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan.

Earlier, activists staged a demonstration outside the press club to mark Youm-e-Takbeer.
