Paramedics protest

THATTA, May 28: About 100 paramedics and lower staff of Makli Civil Hospital boycotted work and observed strike here on Wednesday in protest against sacking of their colleagues by hospital administration.

The hospital’s OPD remained closed during the strike, much to the inconvenience of patients who had come from far-flung areas of the district.

The protesters led by Mehmood Bhambhro also staged a sit-in on the National Highway, raising slogans against hospital authorities and complaining about their indifference towards paramedics and lower staff.

They warned that they would not resume duty until the hospital took back sacking orders and lashed out at the medical superintendent for his arrogant attitude.

They alleged that he used abusive language with lower staff and demanded his removal. They announced they would observe two-hour strike on a daily basis.

SIT-IN: A large number of people of Chuhar Jamali staged a demonstration and a sit-in outside the office of Thatta DPO in protest against kidnapping of a farmer.
