By Our Staff Reporter
KARACHI, May 28: The judicial magistrate XV, East, on Wednesday acquitted Jamaat-i-Islami leaders Mirajul Huda Siddiqi, Rafiq Ahmed Khan and Nasrullah Shaji in a case pertaining to misuse of loudspeakers.
Defence counsel Abdul Waheed had moved an acquittal application on behalf of the accused under Section 249-A of CrPC, arguing that that the case was registered on political grounds and the prosecution had failed to prove the charges.
The leaders were accused of misusing loudspeakers in Jamshed Quarters area in 2006. A case (FIR 295/06) was registered under Section 2/3 of the Regulation & Control of Loudspeakers and Sound Amplifiers Ordinance at the Jamshed Quarters police station.
Meanwhile, the judicial magistrate-X, South, on Wednesday indicted Agha Javed Pathan, who had allegedly manhandled former Sindh chief minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim in the assembly building.
The court asked prosecution witnesses to record their statements on June 7.

The same court on Wednesday adjourned the hearing of a case registered against PPP leaders Syed Qaim Ali Shah, Nisar Ahmed Khuhro and others till June 28. The case (FIR No.358/04) was registered against them at the Preedy police station under Sections 147,148,149, 353,427/34 of the Pakistan Penal Code for causing damage to many vehicles during a protest demonstration on June 18, 2004.
The accused, along with Rashid Rabbani, Sassui Palejo, Syed Murad Ali Shah, Muzaffar Ali Shujra, Najmi Alam, Raheel Iqbal, Dr Mehreen Bhutto, Sharfunnisa Laghari and Marvi Mazhar had taken out a procession against the assassination of their party colleague, Munawwar Suhrawardi.
