KARACHI: Ban on heavy vehicles relaxed
KARACHI, May 28: DIG Traffic Wajid Ali Khan has exempted the heavy vehicles carrying essential supplies and construction material from the ban on entry into the city during peak hours.
According to an order issued here on Wednesday, the heavy vehicles carrying petroleum products, medicines, medical gases, water, commodities, meat, leather and construction material have been exempted from the ban.The heavy vehicles, including water tankers and dumpers, and those carrying cement, sand, crushed stones and iron rods are not allowed to enter the city limits from 8am to 11am and from 6pm to 9pm for one month, staring May 28, under Section 144, it said.
Highway robberies
Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad has directed the Motorway Police and local police to make jointly efforts to contain highway robberies, besides increasing patrolling during night hours in the city, especially in the limits of Nooriabad, Loni Kot and Gadap police stations.
Talking to a delegation of transporters at the Governor’s House here on Wednesday, he held out the assurance that the issues relating to weighbridges located at Gul Bai, Dervesh-1, Dervesh-2 System and Hawkesbay would be resolved.
The 10-member delegation called on the governor to apprise him of the problems being faced by transporters in the province.
They informed him about increasing incidents of robberies and hijacking of goods vehicles along the Super Highway, National Highway, Northern Bypass and link roads.—Agencies
