Turkish envoy keen to boost trade

HYDERABAD, May 28: Consul General of Turkey Erdem Mutaf said on Wednesday that trade relations existed between Turkey and this region, which is now Pakistan, since 19th century and there is a need to increase the trade volume between them.
Addressing members of the Hyderabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (HCCI) he exhorted the businessmen to exploit great opportunities of trade between the two countries.
Mr Mutaf said that Turkey was constructing a power house in Jhampir at a cost of $300 million, which will produce 300 megawatts of electricity. In addition to this, Turkish companies are executing projects in construction and PVC sectors.
He invited a trade delegation of the chamber to visit Turkey.
HCCI President Haji Mohammad Yaqoob in his address of welcome urged the Turkish entrepreneurs to invest in development projects in Hyderabad, which offers an environment conducive for investment.
The consul general also visited Sindh Agriculture University at Tandojam and met Vice Chancellor Dr Basheer Ahmed Shaikh. He also inspected various departments of the university and evinced keen interest in the institute of food sciences and technology.
Mr Mutaf spoke about the possible cooperation between the scholars of two countries in academic and research fields as well as exchange of scholars.
