BAHAWALPUR, May 26: The ruling district government group, led by Bahawalpur Ittehad’s district nazim Tariq Cheema, won two seats of naib nazims with a wide margin in the by-elections of the district council and Saddar tehsil here on Monday.

The Bahawalpur Ittehad enjoys the support of the Pakistan Muslim League-Q. The PML-N and PPP did not participate in the election process conducted by the district and sessions judge.

In the naib nazim elections of Saddar tehsil, Naseer Bhatti defeated Sheikh Muhammad Ayub. The winning candidate obtained 16 votes while his rival could get only four votes.
