PML-Q grabs Karor tehsil naib nazim slot

By Our Correspondent

LAYYAH, May 26: After performing poorly in the Feb 18 elections, the Pakistan Muslim League-Q (PML-Q) struck back and grabbed the Karor tehsil naib nazim slot on Monday with a convincing majority. PML-Q’s Chaudhry Zulfiqar secured 13 of 20 votes, while his rival Malik Ejaz Ahmed Jag, backed by the PML-N, did not attend the session.

The seat fell vacant when tehsil naib nazim Chaudhry Niaz Ahmed Gujjar resigned and contested the Feb 18 general election.

Additional District and Sessions Court Judge Nazir Ahmed Langah monitored the election. Thirteen members voted for the PML-Q candidate while his rival along with his supporters was not present in the house.

PML-Q Member of the National Assembly Sardar Bahadur Sehar told Dawn the PML-Q candidate victory showed the political strength of the party.
